Design Your Own Tray Events

Ella Doran has been designing and selling trays since 1998. In the early days, Ella had to use single images in minimum production quantities of 3000.

But, thanks to new developments, she was able to produce one-off designs, using specialist pens directly onto specialist paper, which were then made into individual trays that allow for individual creativity.

This development spawned a host of high-profile, public workshops for Kids and Adults, at places such as Selfridges, the Southbank with BBC Blast, Kids Modern, the Barbican’s ‘Do Something Different’ weekend, and the Hidden Art Kids Select programme.

She also offered ‘Design Your Own Tray at Home’ during COVID, see here.

Encouraging and rewarding for adults and children alike the workshops are great fun. We welcome invitations, not just from institutions, but from schools and community groups too!

Get in touch if you would like to discuss a project or workshop. HERE.

Alexandra Lunn

I used to roam around my dad’s wood workshop in West Yorkshire, terrorising his colleagues and making wooden sculptures. I’d accompany him to the demolition sites of the old mills of Manchester and Leeds that were being pulled down; everything within the mills was meant to be burnt, however, he’d salvage wood, bobbins, and cast iron objects and use the materials to make floors and furniture out of the reclaimed timber and other items. The idea that you could make something out of nothing interested me.

I work with developers, designers, and other creatives to create stand-out visual identities, websites, and marketing.
